Aaron (WHEN THE DEADBOLT BREAKS) on Rock Overdose: ” We feel that this is our best work to date”

When The Deadbolt Breaks are going to release their new album this year, called "Angels are weeping…God has abandoned". Due to this release, Rock Overdose and Konstantinos Sotirelis talked with the band's leader, Aaron, so as to learn everything about their new release.

Rock Overdose: Hello guys, how are you? How is it going on the band’s side these days?

Aaron: Things are going great so far and we couldn’t be happier with things!

Rock Overdose: You have recently released a new track called “Bloodborn” from your upcoming album “Angels are weeping…God has abandoned.”. How did the fans react so far?

Aaron: The reactions so far have been great!  We’ve put a lot of time an effort into this release, not unlike others, but we feel that there is something special about this release.  From people’s reactions so far, they agree with that fact.

Rock Overdose: Could you tell us a few things about the songs’ music and lyrics?

Aaron: The music and lyrics are very personal to us. Lyrically, I have had some rough times over the past few years that were and have been life changing.  Some for the better, others not.  That has all come out in the lyrics.  When the Deadbolt Breaks has always been my main outlet for my aggression, my sorrow, my everything...  But when times get rough, you can hear it in the songs. As a band, we are on the same page.  We put everything we have into this band. We write what we feel and sometimes it's really ugly.

Rock Overdose: When should we expect the release of the album?

Aaron: We have a solid release date from SlipTrick Records on CD and digital worldwide of November 2.  We have also just penned a deal with a label out of New Mexico called Desert Records to release the album on vinyl at the end of November worldwide!

Rock Overdose: A few days ago you had a tour and two pre-release shows, right? How did it go? How did the fans react to the new tracks?

Aaron: The release shows in Connecticut and Maryland went amazing.  Better than we could have hoped.  The vibe has been extremely positive and welcoming.

Rock Overdose: How do you feel about the new album? What are your expectations about this release?

Aaron: We feel that this is our best work to date and we hope that it keeps catching on.  We want to share what we have inside of us and keep the vibe going.

Rock Overdose: Could you tell us a few words about where did you record the album, how long did it take, what are the lyrics about and what are the differences from the previous releases?

Aaron: We wrote and recorded the album over the first few months of 2017. Our process is a bit unique, so we don’t rush anything as far as the recording process goes.  That’s most of our actual writing takes place.   Lyrically, the songs are about personal battles, horror, and the internal darkness that struggles to allow the beauty of daily life in.   All of our releases are unique in their own way, but I feel that this one is appropriate for our current times. The hopelessness and the uncertainty.

Rock Overdose: How did the cooperation with Sliptrick occur? Are you satisfied?

Aaron: We were shopping the record around for a few months during the final production and when conversations started with SlipTrick, we were blown away with their love for the record and their plan to get it out to the public worldwide.   We knew it was the right choice.  We are very pleased and excited to be working with them.

Rock Overdose: Do you have any other plans for the future? Any live shows or tours?

Aaron: We are doing some one-off shows at the moment to support the release and are in the works of planning a tour for early 2019 to get out and promote the record as much as we can.    We are also in the final stages of filming a new video for a tune off the new album, so keep an eye out for that in the very near future!

Rock Overdose: Thank you very much for this interview, the last words is yours.

Aaron: We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us. We thank you very much and encourage everyone to stop by our bandcamp to check out the new release and most of our prior releases as well as stop by our Youtube channel (Deadbolt6669) and come drink with us when we play live.  Cheers!!!

For Rock Overdose,

Konstantinos Sotirelis
