Extracts from the interview follow below :

RockOverdose : Would you join a metal band in the near future again?

Anneke : Well, I'm not sure... I don't know what the future holds because I'm doing what I like at the moment. However, I like the "metal" sound. I love guitars and harsh drumming as well as rocking on the stage. I don't how my next album will sound like, I am already writing stuff but the musical direction is still unknown for me. I am still active in the metal scene, you know, Devin Townsend, Moonspell, Anathema, Within Temptation etc. I am still working with all of them so I'm always into "hard" music. But I'm always doing different things here in Netherlands, more mainstream. I love them all.

RockOverdose : Are you writing lyrics for your new album then?

Anneke : Yes! I am also writing music. I am making some demos at the moment and the tracks sound like up-tempo,spicy but I have no idea for the final result.

RockOverdose : I suppose we shouldn't expect it soon, right?

Anneke : Yes, I believe this album will be released next year, we have a lot of time for it.

RockOverdose : You are about to co-operate with Devin Townsend. Can you give us some info about this collaboration?

Anneke : Haha, I could be talking about Devin for hours. He is one of the best musicians I know and a fantastic guitarist, singer, composer and performer. Apart from those, he is a very good man, very clever and funny. It's truy wonderful to work with him, especially after I listened to his band, his solo career and the collaboration of him with Steve Vai. I love them all and I'm really proud to work with him. When we work together and he composes themes for me to sing, he always gets the best of me and he always knows where to lead my voice and its functions. It's a challenge and I'm glad I face it everytime. He's a leader, a master and I'm proud to be in his albums.

RockOverdose : In a recent interview we had with Hans of The Gathering, he told us that you haven't had any contact for a long time. Do you miss anything from your time in The Gathering?

Anneke : We don't any contact anymore, indeed, we both have gone our separate ways. When I look back, though, I feel satisfaction and pride about The Gathering. It's weird for me because I spent my early years with them and every memory I have since 21 years old is with them. They're still in my life every day, I think of them, I read about them and they're something special for me. Maybe one day we will communicate again, but looking back in my career I feel proud and satisfied with our work.

RockOverdose : Have you heard anything of their new albums?

Anneke : Oh yes, I love them, they're wonderful. I believe they always tend to evolve their music furthermore. They haven't written a bad song yet in their career and this is a challenge, it's great what they're doing up to now... And I really like their new vocalist. She's very good and has a beautiful voice.
