Αρχίζοντας από ένα ιδιαίτερο κράμα που ήθελε τον συνδυασμό του NWOBHM και της punk, το thrash έχει περάσει από διάφορα ρεύματα και επιρροές μέχρι σήμερα. Επίσης, ο ήχος του thrash επηρεάστηκε και επηρεάζεται έντονα από τοπικούς παράγοντες, δηλαδή από τις χώρες από τις οποίες προέρχεται η κάθε μπάντα.
Ήρθε η ώρα να ανατρέξουμε, λοιπόν, στους καλύτερους thrash metal δίσκους ανά χρονιά από το 1983, τη χρονιά που έγινε αισθητή η παρουσία του.
