-Hello, thank you for accepting our invitation and welcome to Rockoverdose.gr. How are you these days?
Lord Ahriman: I"m doing just fine. Busier than ever, but that"s just the way I like it. It feels absolutely killer to finally be back with a new and full line-up. And I can"t wait to unleash the new dark force that Dark Funeral is these days! Nowadays live on stage!
• So, new members for Dark Funeral. It seems like a new era or something that… just happened?
Lord Ahriman: Indeed! With two new maniacs in the band, Nachtgarm on vocals and Zornheym on Bass, a new dark era as well as a new hellish chapter in the saga Dark Funeral has begun.
• Many live shows lately. Tell us about your upcoming appearances.
Lord Ahriman: We haven"t start touring yet, and many confirmed gigs are still to be announced, while even more are being confirmed as we speak. With new and fresh blood in the band, and approximately a year off the road, it has for sure fueled my/our hunger to hit the road and set stages all over the world on fire (again)! After quite a few months of intense rehearsals it feels like we are tighter and do sound better than ever before. So, once we kick off touring again, on October 6th, we will be like an infernal war machine that will crush everything in its path.
• How about this experience on stage after so many years and where was your best and your worst performance ever and why.
Lord Ahriman: I"ve always considered Dark Funeral to be a live band in the very first place, always striving for utter perfection. To present our music live on stage, in its purest form. And to share the dark energy with, and in front of an audience, is like the "grand price" after all the time and hard work you"ve spent to write the actual songs. After almost two decades living this "lifestyle", my spirit to continue to wave the flag of "Swedish Black Metal" is still growing strong. And with regards to the "best and worst performance ever": Well, there"s always going to be "those days" when things just do not turn out as you want or have planned, but that"s part of life. I/we"re no machines after all. It"s just to get over it, and do better the next show. Luckily "those days" don"t happen too often, and it"s usually not that bad either. Usually we"re having a blast on stage, perform well, but we"re always going to strive to be better. And now, with the new line up, I am absolutely sure that what you, our dear fans, soon will be able to witness, is the most sinful and powerful Dark Funeral ever!
• How about your upcoming live here and your opinion about Greece in general? You know that you have many fans around here, right?
Lord Ahriman: Considering the fact that it"s been quite a few years since the last time we played Greece, we are absolutely looking forward to play there again in January 2012. After the last show we did in Greece, I have actually been there on vacation. I was island-hopping with no pre-decided destination for two weeks in the Dodecanese, and it was a blast! I"m definitely going to do that again sometime in the future.
• What’s your opinion about Septic Flesh and what about the idea playing together?
Lord Ahriman: It will be great to play with Septic Flesh. The musical differences and the mix of them and us, will make it a very interesting show I think, especially for the audience. I don"t think I"ve ever seen Septic Flesh live, so I"m looking forward to be able to catch their set, too.
• Any plans for some new stuff? What information can you share with us?
Lord Ahriman: Sure, but right now we focus completely to be – and to keep ourselves – in an absolute killer shape. Both physically and concerning the live performance with regard to the intense touring we have ahead of us. But new material is always lurking there in the back of my head, so we"ll see when I/we have the time, and/or get in the right spirit to resume the writings. We have also left Regain Records. And at this point in time, we have not signed to a new label, so that"s something that has to be sorted out first, before a new release can see the light of day.
• You are the brain of Dark Funeral. What’s the main inspiration for you to write music?
Lord Ahriman: It"s hard to tell and/or put into words exactly what it is that inspire me. I just follow my own inner demons and let them guide me through the writing process, putting notes to the insanity that lurks within my own private darkness if you will.
• If you could change one thing in the world what would be this?
Lord Ahriman: Wow, it would definitely require more than just one thing, and yet we would not even be close to a perfect world according to my own criteria.
• How would you like Dark Funeral to be remembered?
Lord Ahriman: Like a hellish musical storm that swept throughout the world, always walking our own path, never compromised or let anyone run us over.
• If you had to choose one song that you could say that is written for you which will be this?
Lord Ahriman: Except for my own songs, I have no idea which one that would be...

-Γεια χαρά, σε ευχαριστούμε που δέχτηκες τη πρόσκληση μας και καλώς ήλθες στο Rockoverdose.gr. Πως είσαι αυτόν τον καιρό?
Lord Ahriman: Είμαι μια χαρά. Πιο απασχολημένος από ποτέ, αλλά έτσι μου αρέσει κιόλας. Νιώθω πραγματικά υπέροχα που είμαστε πίσω με ένα καινούριο full- line up και δε μπορώ να περιμένω να βγάλουμε προς τα έξω όλη αυτή τη καινούρια δύναμη που έχουν οι Dark Funeral αυτές τις μέρες. Αυτές τις μέρες βρισκόμαστε επί σκηνής.
• Λοιπόν, νέα μέλη για τους Dark Funeral. Σηματοδοτεί μια νέα εποχή η είναι κάτι που απλά…συνέβη?
Lord Ahriman: Πράγματι! Με δύο νέους μανιακούς στη μπάντα, τον Nachtgarm στα φωνητικά και τον Zornheym στο μπάσο, μια νέα σκοτεινή εποχή καθώς και ένα νέο κεφάλαιο για τους Dark Funeral έχει αρχίσει.
• Πολλές live εμφανίσεις τον τελευταίο καιρό. Πες μας για τις επερχόμενες συναυλίες σας.
Lord Ahriman: Δεν έχουμε αρχίσει τις συναυλίες ακόμη και είναι και πολλές που ακόμη δεν έχουν ανακοινωθεί και τώρα τη στιγμή που μιλάμε. Με νέο και φρέσκο αίμα στη μπάντα και περίπου έναν χρόνο μακριά από συναυλίες είναι σίγουρα κάτι που τροφοδότησε τη δίψα μας να βγούμε για συναυλίες (και πάλι). Μετά από αρκετούς μήνες με πολλές πρόβες αισθάνομαι ότι είμαστε αυστηρότεροι και ακουγόμαστε πιο καλά από ποτέ. Έτσι, τη στιγμή που θα ξεκινήσουμε συναυλίες ξανά στις 6 Οκτωβρίου θα είμαστε σαν διαβολεμένη πολεμική μηχανή που θα συντρίψει τα πάντα στο πέρασμά του.
• Πως είναι όλη αυτή η εμπειρία στη σκηνή μετά από τόσα χρόνια και ποια ήταν η καλύτερη αλλά και η χειρότερη σου εμφάνιση και γιατί?
Lord Ahriman: Πάντα ήθελα οι Dark Funeral να είναι μια «live» μπάντα στη πρώτη θέση και να προσπαθεί πάντα για το τέλειο. Να παρουσιάζουμε ζωντανά στη σκηνή τη μουσική μας στη πιο αγνή της μορφή και να μοιραζόμαστε την σκοτεινή μας ενέργεια και μπροστά στο κοινό είναι σαν η μέγιστη τιμή μετά από τόσα χρόνια σκληρής δουλειάς για να γίνουν αυτά τα τραγούδια. Μετά από σχεδόν δύο δεκατίες ζώντας με αυτό τον τρόπο ζωής το πνεύμα μου θέλω να συνεχίσει να υψώνει τη σημαία του Σουηδικού Black Metal και να το κάνει πιο δυνατό και όσων αφορά τις καλύτερες και χειτότερες εμφανίσεις ποτέ : Λοιπόν, πάντα υπάρχουν οι μέρες εκείνες που τα πράγματα δε πάνε όπως τα προγραμματίσαμε αλλά και αυτό είναι μέρος της ζωής. Δεν είμαστε μηχανές. Πρέπει να το προσπεράσεις και να δώσεις τον καλύτερο εαυτό σου στο επόμενο show. Ευτυχώς αυτές οι μέρες δεν συμβαίνουν συχνά και δεν είναι και τόσο άσχημες και τώρα με το νέο line up, είμαι απολύτως βέβαιος ότι αυτό, αγαπητοί οπαδοί μας, σύντομα θα είμαστε σε θέση να σας το επιβεβαιώσουμε, είμαστε πιο αμαρτωλοί και πιο ισχυροί Dark Funeral από ποτέ!
• Πες μας σχετικά με το επερχόμενο live σας εδώ και ποια η γνώμη σου για την Ελλάδα γενικότερα; Ξέρετε ότι έχετε πολλούς θαυμαστές εδώ γύρω, έτσι;
Lord Ahriman: Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη το γεγονός ότι έχουν περάσει αρκετά χρόνια από την τελευταία φορά που παίξαμε στην Ελλάδα, περιμένουμε με ανυπομονησία να παίξουμε εκεί ξανά τον Ιανουάριο του 2012. Μετά την τελευταία φορά που ήρθαμε Ελλάδα για συναυλία, έχω έρθει και για διακοπές. Ήμουν στα Δωδεκάνησα χωρίς να έχω προ-αποφασίσει κάποιον συγκεκριμένο προορισμό για δύο εβδομάδες , και ήταν υπέροχα! Είμαι σίγουρος ότι θα το κάνω αυτό και πάλι κάποια στιγμή στο μέλλον.
• Ποια είναι η γνώμη σου για τους Septic Flesh και πως σου φάνηκε η ιδέα να παίξετε μαζί;
Lord Ahriman: Θα είναι υπέροχα να παίξουμε με Septic Flesh. Οι μουσικές διαφορές και το μίγμα από αυτούς και εμάς, θα κάνει ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον show νομίζω, ειδικά για το κοινό. Δεν νομίζω ότι έχω δει ποτέ Septic Flesh ζωντανά, έτσι ανυπομονώ να είμαι σε θέση να δω και το set τους.
• Υπάρχουν τυχόν σχέδια για κάτι καινούριο; Τι πληροφορίες μπορείς να μοιραστείς μαζί μας;
Lord Ahriman:Σίγουρα, αλλά αυτή τη στιγμή έχουμε επικεντρωθεί απόλυτα να κρατήσουμε τον εαυτό μας - σε ένα συγκεκριμένο σχήμα. Τόσο σωματικά όσο και σχετικά με την ζωντανή απόδοση σε σχέση με την έντονη περιοδεία που έχουμε μπροστά μας. Όμως, το νέο υλικό πάντα καραδοκεί εκεί στο πίσω μέρος του κεφαλιού μου, οπότε θα δούμε όταν έχω / έχουμε το χρόνο. Έχουμε, επίσης, αφήσει την Regain Records και σε αυτό το χρονικό σημείο, δεν έχουμε υπογράψει σε μια νέα εταιρεία, έτσι αυτό είναι κάτι που πρέπει να διευθετηθεί πρώτα, πριν μια νέα κυκλοφορία δει το φως της ημέρας.
• Είσαι ο βασικός εγκέφαλος των Dark Funeral. Ποια είναι η κύρια πηγή έμπνευσης για να γράψεις μουσική;
Lord Ahriman: Είναι δύσκολο να πω με λόγια τι ακριβώς είναι αυτό που με εμπνέει. Εγώ απλώς ακολουθώ τους εσωτερικούς δαίμονες μου και τους αφήνω να με καθοδηγήσουν στη διαδικασία της γραφής, βάζοντας σημειώσεις για την παράνοια που κρύβεται μέσα στο ιδιωτικό σκοτάδι μου αν θέλετε.
• Αν μπορούσες να αλλάξεις ένα πράγμα στον κόσμο τι θα ήταν αυτό;
Lord Ahriman: Πω πω, θα απαιτούσα σίγουρα κάτι περισσότερο από ένα πράγμα, και όμως δεν θα ήταν πάλι καν κοντά σε έναν τέλειο κόσμο, σύμφωνα με τα κριτήριά μου.
• Πώς θα θέλατε να τους θυμούνται στους Dark Funeral ;
Lord Ahriman: Όπως μια κολασμένη μουσική θύελλα που σάρωσε όλο τον κόσμο, πάντα περπατώντας στον δικό μας δρόμο, που ποτέ δεν τίθεται σε κίνδυνο και δεν αφήνει κανέναν να τρέξει πίσω μας.
• Αν έπρεπε να διαλέξεις ένα τραγούδι που θα μπορούσες να πεις ότι είναι γραμμένο για σένα ποιο θα ήταν αυτό;
Lord Ahriman: Εκτός από τα τραγούδια μου, δεν έχω ιδέα ποιο θα μπορούσε να είναι ...
