Το Rock Overdose και η Vivi Jd, συνομίλησαν με το τραγουδιστή της Ιταλικής progressive metal μπάντας των Eldritch Terence Holler, με αφορμή τη κυκλοφορία του νέου τους δίσκου με τίτλο "Gaias Legacy".

Terence: Hi, the pleasure is mine!! Many thanks for this..
Rock Overdose: If I am not wrong, Eldritch are celebrating 20 years of existence. How do you feel with this?
Terence: Well, when we started in 1991 we never expected to release 8 studio albums, 1 double live album, 1 live dvd, 3 re-issues of old albums and many shows and tours around the world!!! We come from Italy and it’s not easy to become a rock-musician coming from our land…..
Rock Overdose: Your new album is titled "Gaia"s Legacy" and is out soon. How has the response been on the new album, and what kind of expectations do you have for it?
Terence: Well, it’s still too early, the album will be out in 3 weeks from now, so we only got some response from journalists and reviewers…. All the critics are great!!! We’re sure we did a real masterpiece of progressive metal!!! ELDRITCH doesn’t sound like any other prog metal band on earth!! This is the truth…
Rock Overdose: It"s been 4 years since your last record "Blackenday", why this took so long?
Terence: After Blackenday (2007) we released the double live album and dvd “Livequake” (2008) and then toured Europe with Firewind… We finished touring in 2009 and then started the songwriting for Gaia’s Legacy… It took a lot of time because we decided to have a keyboard player in the band again, like for the first era….. the album is hyper technical, so it needed 1 year to write the whole stuff!! Then 7 months for pre-producing, recording, mixing, mastering etc… This is the reason why 4 years between the previous album and this one!!!
Rock Overdose: "Gaia s Legacy" is based on Al Gore"s documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" that is talking about the global warming. Can you tell us a few words about it?
Terence: Al Gore did an excellent film/documentary based on the global warming impact on the world’s life!! If you watch it you could learn so many things about what is happening to our planet…. I found it very interesting and useful to write an album on something important and maybe could open some minds about what the hell is going on!! Of course, I’m not launching any kind of slogan!! I’m just a singer, but at least I didn’t write anything stupid!!
Rock Overdose: Twelve songs in your album, including the excellent cover of Fates Warning"s "Through Different Eyes". How this cover came up and why you decide to include it in the album?
Terence: We are fans and in part friends with Fates Warning, in fact, Ray Alder sang on our previous album Blackenday!! We simply love this band and wanted to dedicate them this Eldritch version of one of their best tracks….
Rock Overdose: In the press report of the album, you announce that this album is a "return to the roots" of your music. Do you think that you succeeded that?
Terence: Oh yeah, sure!! This album has the spirit of Seeds Of Rage, Headquake and El Nino! Of course, the sound is modern, the musicianship is better and the songs are very catchy and full of impact! All our fans that loved our first 3 albums should find Gaia’s Legacy a masterpiece of progressive/thrashy/catchy and “in your face” metal!!
Rock Overdose: Bob Katsionis played as a guest musician at the "Like a Child" song. How was the cooperation with him?
Terence: Bob is a outstanding musician!! He’s a great guitarist and also keyboardist… He’s a fan of Eldritch and we became friends touring with Firewind.. We just aked him and he said yes!!! Very simple….. He’s also a “down to earth guy” and it was a pleasure working with him…..
Rock Overdose: If you forget for a few minutes that you are an Eldritch"s member and try to choose your favorite Eldritch"s album, that would be...
Terence: El Nino is the best album up to now, but I’m sure that Gaia’s Legacy could become our all time best work!!!
Rock Overdose: Are you planning tours now? Any chance to have you in Greece?
Terence: We’re playing in Atlanta , U.S.A. for the Progpower USA in a few days, then we’re planning to tour Italy, then maybe USA and Europe… All this within 2012…. Of course we’d like to come to Greece, it’s one of our biggest fan area!!!

Rock Overdose: Αν δεν κάνω λάθος, οι Eldritch γιορτάζουν τα 20 χρόνια ύπαρξής τους. Πως νιώθετε γι αυτό;
Terence: Όταν αρχίσαμε το 1991 δεν περιμέναμε ότι θα κυκλοφορούσαμε 8 studio albums, 1 διπλό live album, 1 live dvd, 3 επανακυκλοφορίες παλιών albums και τόσα πολλά shows και περιοδείες σε όλο το κόσμο!!! Ερχόμαστε από την Ιταλία και δεν είναι εύκολο να γίνεις ένας rock μουσικός στην χώρα μας...
Rock Overdose: Το νέο σας album με τίτλο "Gaia"s Legacy" βγαίνει σύντομα. Πως είναι η ανταπόκριση του νέου album μέχρι τώρα και τι προσδοκίες έχετε από αυτό;
Terence: Είναι νωρίς ακόμα, το album θα βγει σε 3 εβδομάδες από σήμερα, έτσι έχουμε κάποια ανταπόκριση από δημοσιογράφους και reviewers…. Όλες οι κριτικές είναι υπέροχες!!! Είμαστε σίγουροι ότι κάναμε ένα αριστούργημα του progressive metal!!! Οι Eldritch δεν ακούγονται σαν καμία άλλη prog metal μπάντα στον κόσμο!! Αυτή είναι η αλήθεια…
Rock Overdose: Πέρασαν 4 χρόνια από την τελευταία σας κυκλοφορία "Blackenday", γιατί σας πήρε τόσο καιρό;
Terence: Μετά το "Blackenday" (2007) κυκλοφορήσαμε το διπλό live album και dvd “Livequake” (2008) και ύστερα περιοδεύσαμε στην Ευρώπη με τους Firewind… Τελειώσαμε την περιοδεία το 2009 και αρχίσαμε να γράφουμε τα κομμάτια για το "Gaia’s Legacy"… Μας πήρε αρκετό καιρό γιατί αποφασίσαμε να έχουμε keyboards ξανά στη μπάντα, όπως την πρώτη μας εποχή….. Το album είναι σούπερ τεχνικό, έτσι χρειάστηκε ένα χρόνο για να γράψουμε όλο το υλικό!! Μετά, 7 μήνες προ-παραγωγής, υχογραφήσεων, mixing, mastering κλπ… Αυτός είναι ο λόγος των 4 χρόνων μεταξύ του προηγούμενου album και αυτού!!!
Rock Overdose: Το "Gaia"s Legacy" είναι βασισμένο στο ντοκιμαντέρ του Al Gore"s "An Inconvenient Truth" και μιλάει για το φαινόμενο της παγκόσμιας θερμότητας. Μπορείς να μας πεις μερικά λόγια γι αυτό;
Terence: Ο Al Gore έκανε ένα εξαιρετικό film/ντοκιμαντέρ βασισμένο στο φαινόμενο της παγκόσμιας θερμότητας στην ζωή του κόσμου!! Αν το παρακολουθήσεις μαθαίνεις τόσα πολλά πράγματα τα οποία συμβαίνουν στον πλανήτη μας…. Το βρήκα πάρα πολύ ενδιαφέρον και πολύτιμο για να γράψω ένα album για κάτι τόσο σημαντικό και ίσως ανοίξει μερικά μυαλά για να καταλάβουν τι στο καλό γίνεται!! Φυσικά, δεν λανσάρω κάποιο σλόγκαν!! Είμαι ένας απλός τραγουδιστής, αλλά τουλάχιστον δεν γράφω κάτι χαζό!!
Rock Overdose: Δώδεκα κομμάτια στο album σας, συμπεριλαμβάνοντας την εξαιρετική διασκευή στους Fates Warning "Through Different Eyes". Πως σας ήρθε να κάνετε αυτή τη διασκευή και γιατί συμπεριλήφθηκε σε αυτό το album;
Terence: Είμαστε οπαδοί και φίλοι με τους Fates Warning, μάλιστα ο Ray Alder τραγούδησε στο προηγούμενο album μας, το "Blackenday"!! Απλά λατρεύουμε αυτή τη μπάντα και θελαμε να αφιερώσουμε σε αυτούς την έκδοση των Eldritch σε ένα από τα καλύτερα κομμάτια τους….
Rock Overdose: Στο δελτίο τύπου για το νέο σας album, ανακοινώσατε ότι θα είναι μία "επιστροφή στις ρίζες" της μουσικής σας. Πιστεύεις ότι το καταφέρατε αυτό;
Terence: Ω ναι, σίγουρα!! Αυτό το album έχει το πνεύμα των "Seeds Of Rage", "Headquake" και "El Nino"! Φυσικά, ο ήχος είναι μοντέρνος, η μουσική είναι καλύτερη και τα τραγούδια είναι πολύ ελκυστικά και γεμάτα αντίκτυπα! Όσοι οπαδοί μας λατρεύουν τα πρώτα 3 album μας θα βρουν το "Gaia’s Legacy" ως ένα αριστούργημα του progressive/thrashy/catchy και "στα μούτρα” metal!!
Rock Overdose: Ο Bob Katsionis έπαιξε ως guest μουσικός στο "Like a Child". Πως ήταν η συνεργασία σας μαζί του;
Terence: Ο Bob είναι ένας καταπληκτικός μουσικός!! Είναι υπέροχος κιθαρίστας όπως και keyboardist… Είναι οπαδός των Eldritch και γίναμε φίλοι στην περιοδεία μας με τους Firewind.. Απλά του ζητήσαμε και αμέσως απάντησε θετικά!!! Πολύ απλά….. Είναι επίσης ένας πολύ προσγειωμένος τύπος και είναι πάντα ευχαρίστησή μου να δουλεύω μαζί του…..
Rock Overdose: Αν ξεχάσεις για μερικά λεπτά ότι είσαι μέλος των Eldritch και προσπαθήσεις να διαλέξεις το αγαπημένο σου album του συγκροτήματος, ποιο θα ήταν αυτό;
Terence: Το "El Nino" είναι το καλύτερο album, αλλά είμαι σίγουρος ότι το "Gaia’s Legacy" θα γίνει η καλύτερη δουλειά όλων των εποχών!!!
Rock Overdose: Σχεδιάζεται περιοδεία τώρα; Καμία ελπίδα να σας δούμε στην Ελλάδα;
Terence: Θα παίξουμε στην Atlanta, των ΗΠΑ για το Progpower USA σε λίγες μέρες, μετά σχεδιάζουμε μία περιοδεία στην Ιταλία, και ίσως σε ΗΠΑ και Ευρώπη… Όλα αυτά μέσα στο 2012…. Φυσικά θα θέλαμε να επισκευτούμε την Ελλάδα, είναι μία από τις μεγαλύτερες βάσεις οπαδών μας!!!
