RockOverdose: Hello guys, my name is Angelos and I will be your host for today’s interview, welcome to our site!

Isometry: Hi Angelos! Thank you for having us. We're excited to be here for the interview. Fire away with your questions, and we'll do our best to provide you with some interesting insights about Isometry and our music.

RockOverdose: I was very surprised to return home some weeks ago and find out that a certain band has reached out to me personally for a review of their brand-new record -and also quite flattered! I would like to thank you for the trust you showed in me and I’m also very curious to know some details behind this course of action.

Isometry: We stumbled upon your reviews and thought, "Hey, this Angelos guy really knows his stuff!" Your honest and insightful reviews made us think, "Why not reach out and get his take on our new record?" So here we are, excited to share our music with you and hear what you think. Ask away, Angelos!

RockOverdose: Let’s talk about Isometry. Why did you choose this name? What was the vision behind this act’s conception, what is your aim moving forward?

Isometry: An Isometry is a mathematical concept, related to order, geometry and multidimensional spaces. If you think about this, it is quite similar to our music flavor: rhythmically complex, ‘weighted’ between heavy and quiet sections, mixing different genres, creating ‘rooms’ inside each song.

RockOverdose: For many years your home country of Italy specialized in the prog/power genre of metal, a rather obscure realm in recent days with a passionate, yet dwindling audience. It is clear certain aspects of your sound have been influenced by prog metal acts such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Haken, and even Italian bands like Kingcrow, all brought together in a unique blend with your own personal twist. Was this intentional or purely coincidental?

Isometry: What we really love about our composition process is that we never sit around a table and say ‘ok, let’s write a song in the style of X’, but things flow in an unexpected, quite experimental way, and in a second moment we refine them. However, we are all a lot passionate about prog metal and I think that the main bands that a musician listens to influence his composition style. And we guess that this is what happened.

RockOverdose: So, we’ve learned about the artist, now let’s find out more about the art. I’m personally a huge fan of concept albums and your debut “Break The Loop” happens to be just that! If you could share with us some information about this story and your aspirations while constructing it.

Isometry: Absolutely, Angelos! "Break The Loop" is a concept album that delves into a timeless narrative passed through many generations and voices. It's a story of what was, what might still be, and maybe what's already unfolding. The album takes listeners on a journey through a dystopian, cyberpunk-inspired world filled with androids, virtual reality, and a seemingly perfect but ultimately flawed society. We aimed to create a sonic landscape that would capture the essence of this story. From the heavy, intense moments to softer, more atmospheric passages, our music is a reflection of the emotional and narrative depth we wanted to convey. Our aspiration was to immerse the audience in a vivid, thought-provoking experience and transport them into this dystopian future. Creating a concept album was a thrilling challenge for us, and we hope listeners enjoy exploring this unique world we've crafted.

RockOverdose: Are there any similarities between your dystopian concept and the reality in which we’re living in? How evident is this in our everyday lives?

Isometry: Well, we ARE all interconnected, today more than ever, and big companies store user data to influence the market and place their products. Connections with others can be a strength or a ruin, depending on the way we use our technological tools. We would say that, by removing the sci-fi flavor from the story and excluding some concepts, we have an accurate photograph of the era we are living in.

RockOverdose: What are your expectations from this album? What kind of reception are you anticipating from fans of the genre? How much of an impact are you expecting your debut to have?

Isometry: From the fans of the genre? We really don’t know, prog metal audience is quite particular. Most of the time it’s all about technique or comparison with big names. Our curiosity is more about an intermediate audience, not polarized on prog metal. The message we coded in music is made to be ‘broadcast’, and in fact we tried to mix different music styles together with the more typical prog flavor.

RockOverdose: It seems to me like the record ends in a cliffhanger of sorts. Perhaps this was something intentional, with plans for a future continuation of this project in mind?

Isometry: No, we are quite sure there will not be a Break the Loop part 2. I mean, it would be like being trapped in the loop! The ending has the purpose to not be clear and to let to the listener all the possibilities opened. Good ending? Bad ending? Who knows?

RockOverdose: Usually when a band releases a new record, they tend to promote their new material and establish their audience by organizing some live performances. Are you planning for a promotional tour once “Break The Loop” hits the stores? And if that’s the case, will Greece be included in those tour destinations?

Isometry: Touring and playing our music in front of a live audience is something we're passionate about. However, planning tours can be complex, especially for an independent band like us. While we don't have specific tour plans to announce at the moment, we're actively exploring opportunities to share our music on the road. Greece is a fantastic country with a vibrant music scene, and we'd be thrilled to include it in our tour destinations if the right opportunity arises. We'll keep our fans updated on any touring news, and we hope to see you in Greece one day!

RockOverdose: One last question before we part ways. Are there any Greek bands over the years that you considered to be among your favorites? Which ones do you think have the biggest potential in your opinion?

Isometry: Greek music has produced some fantastic bands over the years, and we admire their talent and dedication to the craft. Two Greek bands that have caught our attention areFirewind and InnerWish. They've made significant contributions to their respective genres and gained recognition worldwide. As for potential, the Greek music scene continues to evolve, and there are many talented artists and bands exploring various styles. It's hard to predict who might achieve great success, but we believe there's a lot of untapped potential in the Greek music community. It's exciting to see new talent emerge and make their mark on the international stage.

RockOverdose: Thank you for the interview, and we hope to connect with our Greek fans and fellow musicians soon! Keep an eye out for more Isometry music and updates.

Isometry: And that concludes our interview, it was a joy talking to you today! The writing team here at rockoverdose.gr thank you for your time and we wish you all the best of luck in your efforts from now on. We hope to meet you soon at some live concert!
Thank you so much for the interview! We had a great time talking with you, and we appreciate your support. We look forward to the day when we can meet our Greek fans in person at a live concert. All the best to you and the rockoverdose team!

On behalf of RockOverdose,

Angelos Chatzigiannis
