Plague of Angels @ Rock Overdose: “They love us in Cyprus because we know how to party!”

Rock Overdose's Antonis "Jey Key" had the chance to talk with Dave Hutchinson, the singer of one of Leeds' upcoming bands, Plague of Angels! Read what he told about their upcoming EP, their relationship with Cyprus and many more below:

Rock Overdose: Hi Dave and welcome to Rock Overdose!

Dave: Hello Antonis!

Rock Overdose: Can you introduce your band to our readers?

Dave: We are Plague Of Angels from Leeds, England. The band are me (Vocals), Dave Giolitti and Jack Woolley (Guitars), Lee Heaney (Bass) and Bradie Nixon (Drums). We formed in late August of 2010 but since then we had some member changes. Now we are here and we try to play as much lives as we can!

Rock Overdose: In which music genre you would add your music?

Dave: You (antonis) out of all people know that is a hard question to answer when it comes P.O.A. Since Bradie (drums) joined we have been getting more technical with time signatures and patterns so...... the tag i'm going to put on it just because i ha....... no fuck it.. i'm not going to put a tag on it go and have a listen and decide for yourself HA!

Rock Overdose: Ok... Well, your EP was released in 2011. What's next? Any plans for an album maybe?

Dave: That "e.p" was more of a demo to be honest and we have an actual E.P coming soon, we have had a lot on this year with house moves, work commitments and gigs so we haven't had much time to record although mid summer we did release the single "LIFE-LESS-VOID"

Rock Overdose: So, in your EP, will you include songs from your demo, or it will have only new songs?

Dave: Well out of all the old songs we have only kept 2 of them and re-written them to be alot better 'Parasetemia' and 'Pope On A Rope' the other 2 tracks on the E.P are 'The Grudge' and a re recording of 'LIFE-LESS-VOID'

Rock Overdose: You have an extremely strong fan base in Cyprus! How's that come?

Dave: HAHAHAHAHAH To be completely honest we actually don't know because the 3 shows we have played on the island the performances on our behalf have been appalling, Jek falling over on stage/Deibbieds unplugging his guitar by accident/Adam breaking the drum kit/me and Lee generally being too drunk!! I reckon it's because we know how to party

Rock Overdose: Any plans to visit the island again in the near future?

Dave: We planned to come in February for my birthday, but I thing that we wont make it... But we will definately be back in 2013, that's for sure!!

Rock Overdose: Tell me, how's the metal scene in England today?

Dave: It's not what it used to be, but i believe it is coming back to life again with smaller festivals like Bloodstock getting bigger every year and more of the smaller bands coming through the ranks I think there is more money being injected into the industry.

Rock Overdose: When you are playing live, what song is your favorite?

Dave: personally it used to be 'LIFE-LESS-VOID' but the re-written 'Pope On A Rope' has re captured our love as has 'Parasetemia' specially with the new djenty tints.

Rock Overdose: Is there any song that you want very much to cover it and play it live?

Dave: There are lot of songs that we would love to cover but as a band we don't feel comfortable playing covers as we believe we wouldn't do them justice, plus we can never decide on just one!

Rock Overdose: Thanks for this interview! It is a great pleasure! Anything else you want to add?

Dave: Thank you all there at Rock Overdose, and than everyone on the island for all of your continued support, it is much appreciated and......... WE WILL BE BACK!

For Rock Overdose,

Antonis "Jey Key" Katsaros
