If I’m not mistaken, one day before the show in Prague, the metal crowd there, had the fortune to receive an invasion from a huge band, Testament. This is making things somewhat pessimistic. The pre-sale is showing a not so good audience in number. Suddenly though, something happens. While Carach Angren set is almost over, I am counting a lot bigger number of people in the venue than the ticket pre-sale have showed and they are already warmed up! The flow of people in the hall continued until it was all filled up. Septicflesh started very powerful and the people had followed the delirium that was into the venue and on the stage. As the atmosphere in there was very hot, Fotis had given the rest a chance to catch a breath, by performing on of his best solos EVER. When the band returned, they demolished what was still standing. A forgotten open window, brought the police in the building and they even measured the sound level, which reminded me the incident with Randy from Log and his adventure with the law in Chech Republic. Fortunately, everything was good and there wasn’t a penalty or a cancellation of the show. We say goodbye to Prague and our friends there and we board on the tourbus, to go to Budapest.
Club 202 in Budapest is very familiar to us, as we have been there 2 times in the past, one with Amon Amarth, when we played for 1500-2000 people another at last year’s Metalfest, with Behemoth and Vader among others. I was wondering one thing: How will this gig go on, without the venue looking like an empty football field. The reassuring answer, came when we got in the club and saw that the console was moved a bit forward, making the arena look smaller. A very respectable number of people, filled the venue and had a good time, something that we respected a lot, since the financial situation in Hungary is not the best it can be. The band plaed a tight and very good show. When you have seen hundreds of shows from the band though and you know every breath they take, you can tell when something is wrong. Despite of the people having a great time, despite the band torturing their necks once more on stage, in my eyes they didn’t played to the maximum abilities. This is not strange, if you concider that we are on the road with shows every night for 15 days already. The night ends with Seth thanking the Hungarian crowd, that keeps on supporting Septicflesh and after a while, the tourbus is heading to Vienna.
I promised myself to forget that night. The gig was done through very hard conditions and I must say only BRAVO to all the bands that played and they played GOOD. A venue 3 levels (!!!) underground, where you must take a whole trailer of backline down and up again (one piano and 2 drumsets… do you need more?). If you add the amateur organize for the gig, then things are going to worse. The people didn’t know anything about it, but the bands did, so against all difficulties, Septicflesh had seed panic for an hour and a quarter. What made a big impression to me, was that except the people that was watching the show through a special constructed smoking area, all the others were headbanging like no tomorrow. I didn’t saw a single camera. How odd is that and how is it missed from shows nowadays. On the other hand though, if there weren’t the people recording the show, I wouldn’t have any videos to show you, like I didn’t find for this show… Tired beyond recognition, I slept immediately in my bed, while the tourbus was travelling in the night for Munich.
