Tas Danazoglou (Satans Wrath) on Rock Overdose: “Phil Lynnot was the Jimi Hendrix of bass.”

Giannis Koutsousimos and Rock Overdose contacted Tas Danazoglou from Satan's Wrath and discussed for many and good things around band and others. Enjoy...

Rockoverdose: Hello Tas and welcome to Rock Overdose. How are you?

Tas: I’m having a rock overdose.

Rockoverdose: In what mood are Satan’s Wrath after the release of their debut?

Tas: The mood that we always have normally. Evil, nasty and totally satanic.

Rockoverdose: Tell us the story behind the creation of the band.

Tas: Not a real story really. I decided around 2011 to form Satan’s Wrath and Stamos joined in.

Rockoverdose: The ideas for the songs came after you had formed the band, or from the time you had been in Electric Wizard?

Tas: I started writing the material after I quit electric wizard.

Rockoverdose: Was it tiring for you to handle the drumming, the vocals and the bass during the recordings?Tas: Not tiring but very difficult. First I had to record the bass and then the drums over the bass. That was a bit of a pain in the arse. Then the vocals were easy. Everything was one take including the vocals, that’s why you can hear in the album me running out of breath. Haha

Rockoverdose: The known line – up of the band is you and Stamos K. Are there any new musicians being the new members or session members for the live shows?

Tas: Yes. We have a full line up now and we’ve started recording our next album already. I can’t give more details though. Also we are ready to strike live. Be forewarned...

Rockoverdose: Are there any booked live shows? Are you thinking of coming to Greece for two or more performances?

Tas: We are negotiating some festivals and few shows for now. We are about to have a booking agent too so things will start to roll. Def’ I want to play in Greece. It will be massacre.

Rockoverdose: By the way, have you thought of having any cult props on stage (heads of goats, upside down crosses or anything else)? Or you believe that this is just too much?

Tas: We will try to have as many props as possible. Goat heads, skulls, inverted crosses. Pyrotechnics you name it. I love it when everything is too much and over the top. What I don’t like is to see a band with shorts and a t - shirt playing death or black metal. A band should be covered in spikes and bullets.

Rockoverdose: It is obvious that you love Venom, Slayer, NWOBHM and Possessed. What about Thin Lizzy? I’m asking you this because while I’m listening to ultimate heavy/black songs, suddenly through the song “Galloping Blasphemy” I feel that you honor that emerald band.

Tas: Really? hahahaha. I like Thin Lizzy but I don’t see the influence here .Ok maybe just the “Emerald” song which is warlike. I love them though. Phil Lynnot was the Jimi Hendrix of bass.

Rockoverdose: What about a video, is it in your plans? “One Thousand Goats in Sodom” would be the perfect one according to me. Especially with the pastoral view of the goats on a hill before their sodomy.

Tas: There are plans for a video very soon. And yes it’s “One Thousand Goats in Sodom”. But sodomizing a goat? Fuck man are you greek? hahahha. A goat should sodomize a woman.

Rockoverdose: What’s your opinion about the reunions? Are they worth all the sensation around them? Is there any band you would pay for as much as you could in order to see them on stage?

Tas: Well most of the old bands are crap now. Then you get all this NWOBHM bands that they did only one demo back in the day and now they demand to be treated as gods. Fuck off... Talking about Thin Lizzy and reunions, now they’re back without Phil Lynnot!!!! I mean what’s next? Motorhead without Lemmy? Shit.

Rockoverdose: What would be the ideal “Evil Festival” for you?

Tas: Slayer, Possessed, Sodom, Nifelheim and Satan’s Wrath.

Rockoverdose: Tas, thank you very much for this interview. I wish Satan’s Wrath have a brilliant course with as many albums as you think are enough for the band. I hope to see you soon on stage. Leave your final black mark through your words…

Tas: Thank you for your interest in the band. Stay heavy and die evil!!!!
