Toronto post-punk/new wave band MODELE, will visit Athens, Greece for the very first time supporting She Past Away.
Consisting of members Chris Huggett and Nathan Wiltshire, Modele merges dark tonal vocals and melodic instrumentation to bring you an alternative soundscape. Their debut album, "Pleasure For The Holy" will be out in early 2025.
Modele digs deep into the moody marrow of ‘80s post-punk and new wave, but with a voice all their own...

RockOverdose: Hello and welcome to Rock Overdose! Since this is the first time interviewing you, I'd like to ask you how MODELE came to be, how would you describe your musical journey and what inspired you to pursue a career in music?
MODELE: Modele came to be quite a few years ago when I had the idea for the name and the style of music I wanted to do. I grew up in a musical family so I always had music in me but I wanted to find my own voice in songwriting and I feel like this album is a very natural and truthful sound.
RockOverdose: Do you feel like creating music has changed you as a person over the years? If so, in what ways?
MODELE: Lately I feel more creative than ever. I always find peace in starting to write a new song. I don't put a lot of pressure on myself anymore and just try to enjoy it and really connect with the lyrics and sound I wanna create.
RockOverdose: You're about to release your debut album, "Pleasure For The Holy". Would you like to tell us more details about it's content and creation?
MODELE: I have been working on this first album for about 3 years now and wrote a ton of songs for it. A lot of those songs didn't make the album but I think they will appear on later releases. It was an interesting process of trying loads of ideas and finding songs that all connected with each other. The title "Pleasure For The Holy" just randomly came to me one day and it seemed to fit perfectly. I'm definitely happy the album is done and excited to get it out to the world and the next album won't take as long to finish!
RockOverdose: How often do you hit a creative wall? And when you do, what's your go-to method for breaking throught?
MODELE: I don't really hit a creative wall too much. I find that overthinking brings the most issues when trying to be creative. These days I try not to spend too much time on things and just get some sounds flowing. Once a sound feels good then I see what comes from there. If something becomes stuck then I'll just go for a walk or a bike ride or something. I'm always just trying to stay balanced. Staying away from being too much of a perfectionist is a good thing and helps you get projects finished.
RockOverdose: Soon you're going to visit Athens - Greece, supporting the great She Past Away. What are your expectations from this show, the greek audience and what you have prepared for us?
MODELE: We are so excited to come to Greece! We've actually never been and we can't wait to see the culture and meet people. Leo Skiadas from Death Disco was so kind to invite us to open for She Past Away and we are so thankful to him for that opportunity, This is gonna be an awesome show and we will play our debut album in its entirety. We will have CD's and shirts for sale and we hope to meet a lot of you after the show!

RockOverdose: Are there any musicians you dream of collaborating with in the future? Or maybe a surprising genre style you'd love to explore?
MODELE: We'd love to keep playing shows with other bands that inspire us! Our next album will be a continuation of the band but of course I always want to broaden our sound and you never know what will inspire you at that time so I'm excited to see what comes next.
RockOverdose: We would like to thank you for your time and wish you all the best for what’s to come next.
On behalf of RockOverdose,
